- We collect only what Askel needs to keep the dated record of how coursework was made.
- When your school uses Askel, your school decides how the data is used. We follow its instructions.
- We never sell data, never use it for adverts and never send students’ work to AI companies.
- Data is kept in the EU, for as long as your school sets.
Who we are
Askel is run by Askel Learning Ltd, founded by a UK secondary school teacher. Registered in England and Wales, company number 17557656. Registered office: 1 Alvin Street, Gloucester, GL1 3EJ. When a school uses Askel, the school is the controller: it decides how the data is used. Askel is the processor. When a student uses Askel on their own, Askel is the controller.
What we collect
- Students: name, school email, class, project steps and dates, help given, AI-use records, sign-offs, and a fingerprint for each linked file. For the EPQ, the production log they write in Askel.
- Staff: name, school email, role, comments, sign-offs and signed statements.
- Partner-review teachers: name, school email and school.

Baseline samples
Some schools ask students to write a short piece in a supervised session, so teachers can compare it with later work. Askel keeps a link and a fingerprint, not the piece itself. Only staff see it.
Temporary copies
When a teacher from another school checks marks, or your teachers check they all mark to the same standard, Askel makes a temporary copy. It uses candidate letters, not names, and is deleted when the review closes.
How long we keep it
Your school sets how long records are kept. The default is the deadline for reviews of results.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data. If your school uses Askel, ask your school first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which looks after data protection in the UK.
