A Level Computer Science coursework

Askel keeps a dated record of each student’s programming project, in the development style your school uses, with links to the code. NEA (non-exam assessment) is coursework marked in school, then checked by the exam board.

Where the admin piles up

Every school runs the project differently.

01

The development phase

Some schools use iterations, some use sprints, some use fixed checkpoints.

02

Showing the code is the student’s own

Code grows in many small changes, often in other tools.

03

Keeping track of help

Debugging help is easy to give and hard to remember.

What Askel records

Built around each board’s rules.

Every feature sits under one of the five steps.

Prepare

Approval before the work starts

OCR proposals and AQA’s Section A, approved and dated.

Show

Milestones in your development style

Iterations, sprints or checkpoints. Students add an iteration when they need one.

Show

Links to the code, never the code

A link to GitHub or OneDrive, with a fingerprint at each milestone.

Show

Check-ins and help, written down

Each check-in and any help given goes into the Record of help.

What stays where it is

Code stays in GitHub, OneDrive or wherever your school keeps it. Askel keeps a link and a fingerprint at each milestone.

AI rules for Computer Science

What each board adds.

AI tools, like ChatGPT, can write or change text for you. JCQ’s rules apply to every board: students say which AI tools they used, and keep their prompts and what the tool gave them. Each board adds its own notes.

OCRJCQ’s rules apply. Each milestone in Askel shows a one-line note from the board’s own guidance.OCR guidance

Askel has no AI in it, and never sends students’ work to AI companies.
