Each rule JCQ asks schools to follow, the step that answers it, and what Askel does. JCQ is the group that writes the shared rules for the main exam boards.

Checked against JCQ documents effective 1 September 2026

What changed this year

Refreshed each September
  • Teachers now sign that they took all reasonable steps to stop AI misuse, and that any help given is written down.
  • Schools need a process for suspected AI misuse before the student signs their statement.
  • Students doing NEA must be given JCQ’s Information for Candidates: AI before they start.
  • AI must not be the only or main marker.
